Helical Gear Design Software
GearTrax ™ provides the designer with an easy to use tool for creating solid models of drive components. Create spur, helical, straight bevel and involute splines with true involute tooth profiles. GearTrax™ is intuitively easy to use for the designer with limited gear experience yet powerful enough for the gear expert. Software can create spur gear types, helical, herringbone, bevel and our very own knuckle gear as a design. Also user may vary the tooth form from involute to epicylcoidal. A series of adjustable parameters exist for each type, allowing full configuration of your gear including ring or planetary gears.
ATTENTION MAC USERS: If you experiance issues with the installer please e-mail me (ross.korsky@gmail.com) and I will provide a workaround. Autodesk makes the installers and they are aware of the issued. That said, the Mac installer has been broken for quite some time and I have little confidance that it will be fixed any time soon!Helical gears resemble spur gears with the teeth at an angle.

Gear Generator is unitless: if you wish it's inches, cm or millimeters. DXF opened in AutoCAD will have the same value for D/P as it is set above. Gears in SVG are measured in pixels, which is the value multiplied with the scale (Pixel per Unit) as it is displayed on the right side.
About
Gear Generator is a tool for creating involute spur gears and download them in DXF or SVG format. In addition it let you compose full gear layouts with connetcted gears to design multiple gears system with control of the input/output ratio and rotation speed. Gears can be animated with various speed to demonstrate working mechanism.
Why this tool was created? Just for fun. I'm working on a hobby project, a scale construction machine, which needed some spur gears, and I quickly made a simple spur gear creator script in Javascript with SVG output. As it was done, I couldn't stop, and I added more and more features, and finally I got this tool. It was a pleasure to code the whole thing, I'm a bit sad it is already done.

The winners are: Opera for the best performance (shame on me, I never use it) and Firefox for the best looking SVG render.
