The problem I have is that the demo projects that come with Logic work just fine (60-95% cpu usage). But when I start a new project, without any tracks the cpu stays at 20-25% and with one audio track it stays at 40-45%. What it's curious is the fact that if I copy the same track and put 3 instances of guitar rig 3, the cpu raises only with 5% or so.

I know the ppc g5 is pretty outdated, but I don't understand why I have such a huge cpu consumption with only one track and such a small difference with other 2 tracks.Thank you in advance and all the best.Dan Avram from Romania. I changed from motu drivers to built in audio, still no change. Shouldn't if take more cpu for 8 esx tracks compared to 1 audio track?i was thinking the Logic engine is taking resources for drivers and GUI, but I'm new to os x and that's why I'm not sure. I don't know why it's so low, to be honest. After that, I've loaded that project with an audio track (some guitar), copied it to have 3 audio tracks and put one instance of guitar rig 3 in each, and I get now a peak of 35%-40%. I even loaded 'The numbers game' demo project and the cpu usage is from 40% to 60% maximum, and I think it's fine for a really old ppc G5. Logic doesn't show me anything at cpu usage, only when playing a bigger project like The numbers game. With those 3 audio tracks, it showed no cpu activity. Only menumeters and activity monitor is showing cpu usage.

I've searched a bit on the web for other info, and I'm actually quite happy that I can run Logic 9 smoothly on my G5. To be honest, I don't use so many tracks and VI's, mostly audio with some effects, and some basic virtual instruments.

Actually, I'm pretty amazed that this PPC is more stable and fluent (even guitar rig doesn't give me crackling sounds and other audio glitches like on windows) - compared to my C2duo windows desktop PC.Thank you very very much for your help and understanding, I'm in debt now.
